One of the nifty things you can easily do with Flagfox 4.0 now is create a pile of custom actions that give functionality you might've installed another Firefox extension for in the past. (though, of course you may still want to for their full feature set) Flagfox 4.0 contains a couple by default, namely WOT and Xmarks.
Another one, though not included by default, is StumbleUpon.
StumbleUpon info page:
http://www.stumbleupon.com/url/{domainName}
or, you can skip that page and stumble directly with:
http://www.stumbleupon.com/to/stumble/go/stumblethru:{domainName}
BugMeNot also exists in extension form, and can also exist in Flagfox custom action form:
http://www.bugmenot.com/view/{domainName}
Then of course there are others like URL shorteners and quick routes to translation or cache or whatnot, all of which Flagfox can do easily without having to install another extension for it.
I didn't set out to make Flagfox 4.0 a sort of Swiss army knife extension, but it sorta turned out that way. If I devise any more custom actions that do features in other notable Firefox extensions I'll post them here. If anyone else knows of some the feel free to post them here too.
Co-opting other Firefox extensions with custom actions
Re: Co-opting other Firefox extensions with custom actions
Here's an odd one. Create dot codes (2D barcodes) for site URLs. There's an extension called Mobile Barcoder that does this which I stumbled over. It uses Nokia's Mobile code creator. You can supplant this into Flagfox 4.0 with the following template:
http://mobilecodes.nokia.com/qr?DATA={fullURL}&MODULE_SIZE=6&name=&MARGIN=2&ENCODING=BYTE&type=link&MODE=TEXT&a=view
It warns you not to go over 60 characters with input URLs, so you might want to hit it with tr.im or another URL shortener it first. In lieu of that you could switch to {domainName} instead of {fullURL} if you wanted.
I haven't tested its output myself, though. Nifty nonetheless.
Edited to add:
Here's a competitor's: Kaywa QR-Code which has the QRLink Maker extension. Its template would be:
http://qrcode.kaywa.com/img.php?s=8&d={fullURL}
http://mobilecodes.nokia.com/qr?DATA={fullURL}&MODULE_SIZE=6&name=&MARGIN=2&ENCODING=BYTE&type=link&MODE=TEXT&a=view

You're welcome.honey_ami wrote:First of all would like to thank you for this great extension
I had considered it, however in recent years I haven't used the service as much because many sites know about it and simply block accounts listed there or request that they block usage for them altogether. Sad, but true.honey_ami wrote:Please officially add Bugmenot
Yes, I had that one listed in the thread we had when we were doing the beta test, but I forgot to list it in the new forum. Whoops. I'm pretty sure that's the only one I missed. Thanks for posting it again.honey_ami wrote:And I found this The Wayback Machine - Web Archive
