FlagFox does not update

Post by CaptPete43 » Sun Nov 04, 2018 4:05 pm

I get error message that flags are more than 1 month old. Auto updates is on. Extension states last update July 2, 2018. What do I need to do to correct?

Specifically, what versions of Firefox and Flagfox are you running? (don't say "latest"; please find the actual numbers) You can find your Firefox version in main menu -> help -> about. You can find the Flagfox version if you go to the Addon Manager (about:addons) -> Flagfox -> more. (Flagfox version is also shown in the lower right of the options page, in current versions)

If updating is broken, that's a problem with Firefox or the Mozilla Addons (AMO) server, as they handle that side of things. You can always just reinstall any version manually, however:

Are you sure there isn't the prompt for you to approve the permissions change to install the new version? Mozilla really screwed up how they handled WebExt permissions. Flagfox 6.1 adds support to use the new DNS API they added 6 months late, but Mozilla also added a new permission in order to do it, and Firefox is really bad at asking for it and won't update without permission to use the new API (that's just a replacement for the old one I used for 10 years). Lots of people got confused by it or just missed it, but if you're not seeing anything for it at all, then I don't have a clue. In any case, please simply reinstall Flagfox if Firefox broke its updating for it. Don't uninstall first, as Firefox stupidly wipes all of an addons' data without prompt when you uninstall. (though, if you don't have any custom actions saved, it doesen't matter) Just go to the full Flagfox versions list and install the newest version (Flagfox 6.1.7, as of this moment).
