Hello.

Firefox 65.0.2 + Flagfox 6.1.11
It seems Flagfox is no longer working correctly since upgraded to Firefox 65.0.2?
Almost all of the sites I visit frequently are now US based according to Flagfox, the sites were identified correctly as other countries such as France, Japan, Australia in the 65.0.1.

Regards,

I just gave Firefox 65.0.2 a quick test, and saw no issues. Please post information about the supposedly wrong lookups, namely URLs and preferably also Geotool links (e.g. URL from clicking flag icon for default action).

Minor notes on the versions: Firefox 65.0.2 is a Windows only update; everyone else is on 65.0.1 still. Also, I just released Flagfox 6.1.12 earlier today. (update Flagfox before testing, just so we're sure we're talking about the same IP location database version)

Thank you for your reply, DaveG.

Flagfox updated to 6.1.12 and still the same results however it seems most sites I visit are now located in the US Amazon/Akamai servers.
Unfortunately I do not remember the countries of sites before 65.0.2.
Checked server locations of sites and Flagfox is correct.

One example,
https://www.renault.com.au/
https://iplookup.flagfox.net/?ip=13.35. ... ult.com.au
The flag was Australia, I'm sure.

I somehow believed Flagfox returning wrong information due to the 65.0.2 geolocation issue fix.
I apologise, DaveG.

Ok, glad everything got sorted out easily enough. (and before my late reply here)

Just to be clear: Firefox provides a geolocation API to share the location of yourself; Flagfox uses an IP location database to locate servers you connect to.

Flagfox doesn't use this geolocation API at all; it instead uses a couple APIs that provide IPs for requests and domains (WebRequest & DNS in local-cache-only mode). The one feature to use Flagfox to look yourself up, the "My Info" default action, just sends you to Geotool and it just does the same thing it always does, but with your public IP address.
