Hi,
is the page
http://geotool.flagfox.net/ down?
I get the message...
http://geotool.flagfox.net/ wrote:Service Temporarily Unavailable
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

It's working fine for me, but I also just tried the Flagfox action to check it:
http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/geotool.flagfox.net
That's going back and forth between "It's not just you!" and "It's just you." when I refresh it. Could be an intermittent problem or a heavy load problem, though it's working fine for me and quite quickly at that. I have no idea what's going on.
Richard?...

By the way, if you're desperate you can use the old server:
http://geotool.servehttp.com/
Still works, but please use it sparingly.

Good. Looks intermittent in some way or is hopefully resolved. Maybe the server center had a routing problem? Dunno; just guessing.
Richard is the server admin so I'll wait on his response to see if he knows what blew up for a bit there.

Nothing obvious. Server has been up for 53 days, the load on the server hasn't been excessively high in the last few hours and all required services seem to have been running fine. Probably some other issue at the hosting centre.

Both geotool.flagfox.net and flagfox.net are down fully now. Connection attempts time out. I think the server center has borked their DNS routing somehow, but that's just a guess.
The flagfox.net domain name registration doesn't expire until next year, so it's at least not that oh so pathetically common mistake.
The forums obviously still work, but only if you know to get to them via flagfox.servehttp.com/forum instead of the flagfox.net/forum redirect.

I have just found the following message posted at
http://helpdesk.hostmonster.com/ (which is where these websites are hosted) :
There is a complete power outage effecting one of the Hostmonster data centers, expected ETA is roughly 1:00 AM Mountain Standard Time.
Provo Power has requested that we shut down power while the transformer is being replaced. They are allowing us to use UPS power for the phone system. The other data center is unaffected by this outage.
We apologize for any inconvenience.

Looks like they've got power again as currently both sites seem to be back up.

Thanks Richard. Great to know what the problem was.
It could be that the initial issues at the beginning of this thread were partial power failures in a lead up to the full shutdown for repairs. Hopefully everything is fixed for good now and it'll all be back to normal working order.
By the way, this was also a nice case of "if it's not one thing, it's another". I noticed the total outage as I was in the middle of testing the new Flagfox 4.0.9 update for release...
(labeling this thread as [FIXED] and de-stickifying; if this happens again on a much later date, file a new thread please)
