Possible to get the flags as images [RESOLVED]

To put it short: Is it possible to get the flags used by flagfox as images? Any way of extracting them from the extension? (In case of speculation; no, I am not intending any commercial use)

Thankyou in advance, and thankyou for this extension

Extracting anything from any Mozilla extension is easy. The XPI file uses standard ZIP compression, so just open it in your default archiver. (you can rename it to a .ZIP if you really feel like it; if you're on Windows, I highly recommend IZArc, though I use 7-Zip to create these files, as it can compress ZIPs better) Next, take a look at flagfox.xpi:/chrome/flagfox.jar; open that JAR in your archiver. Again, it's a variation of ZIP compression. The flag images are in flagfox.jar:/content/flagfox/country & country_alt. They're stored as standard PNG images. (18x12 pixels 4-bit color in 3.x+, see 2.x for 24-bit, though, there's only 3 or so you can tell the difference in, and only if you're looking) Most extensions use this same system for packing their files.

I'm not entirely sure what the copyright situation is with our pics, so don't use them all in some other published product, for-profit or non-profit, without contacting the creators. I'm not too sure what the deal is with the primary set (that was before my time with Flagfox), but the secondary set has links to the creators' webpages in our about box.

Thankyou for the tip, I tried it, but I get this error message: Invalid or corrupt jarfile.

If it were really invalid or corrupt, the extension wouldn't work... ;)

What program are you using to open archives? (and what OS, for that matter?)

OS: Windows XP Professional SP 2. (This is however on a restricted computer).

I have tried IZarc and WinRAR. I think I am going to try on a computer that is not restricted

I use IZArc here, and it can open everything just fine. Don't use WinRAR unless you need to create a RAR.

I can right-click an XPI, goto "open with IZArc", then double-click on the JAR, then that'll open, then double-click on any file, and that'll open. I've got version 3.81 build 1550, if it matters. IZArc sometimes has issues creating ZIPs and JARs that Firefox can read correctly, but it can read almost anything.

Alternatively, you could download the alternative flag set from where the website where they were originally obtained - FamFamFam.
